Project / Internal alterations, extension and interior design to existing house, Forbes of Kingennie.
Client / Private Client
Description
Positioned near the popular Forbes of Kingennie resort, the house offers privacy, a strong connection to nature, and stunning, uninterrupted views of the Kingennie golf course, a feature especially appreciated by our clients who are avid golfers.

Despite its charm, the home presented challenges that the client wanted to address. The north and east-facing living spaces often felt dark, particularly due to the deep eaves overhang. The client envisioned a brighter, more functional space that would fully embrace the views and enhance family living.

Our approach reimagined the home while respecting its character. We designed a ground floor extension to the north and east, featuring expansive Crittall-style aluminium glazing that floods the living areas with natural light. The extension introduces an open-plan kitchen, dining, and entertaining space, with floor-to-ceiling windows that capture the panoramic views of the golf course, creating an inviting environment as an entertainment space for family and friend gatherings.

The redesigned rear elevation features a classical yet contemporary style with crisp, white, clean lines, a projecting flat roof, and new level access decking that seamlessly connects indoor and outdoor spaces. The outdoor decking enhances the flow, offering a light-filled space perfect for relaxation and entertaining. Energy efficiency was also a priority, with sustainable solutions including an air-source heat pump, photovoltaic panels, and modern materials to ensure a comfortable and environmentally friendly home.

The result is a beautifully transformed design that balances the charm of its rural setting with contemporary living. The new extension features thoughtfully crafted details and expansive glazing, creating a seamless connection to the garden and capturing breathtaking views of the golf course.
